This last life scattered
crowns growing thorns
he—him—his past—all one
the nails driven deeper
his faces consumed
flesh cast off
for a future he’d finished
so long ago; he
wished for forgiveness,
not the darkness of heaven.
He wanted his own past.

 


Laura LeHew, an award winning poet, received her MFA in writing from the California College of The Arts in 2003 and has been emerging ever since. Her poems have appeared in national and international journals and anthologies such as Alehouse Press, Her Mark Calendar ‘07/’09, Orbis, Outrider Press, Pank, PMS, and Untamed Ink.
