Did you see that bug kiss me? – My husband

He leans into a quick-spotted
kiss. Wispy dip of wing swims by.
Sweet sweep like breath
lights upon, stipples his lip.
Her airy flight suspended
for a millisecond: in love, in love.

 


Michelle McMillan-Holifield studied poetry and creative writing at Delta State University in the Mississippi Delta, where she received her B.A. in English. Her poetry has been published in several journals including poemmemoirstory, Lullwater Review, and Deep South Magazine. She is currently an M.F.A. Candidate at the University of Arkansas/Monticello.
