I have a penchant
For attracting
The downtrodden:
Out there, left field,
Broken down,
Almost homeless,
Burnt out,
Emotionally spent,
Down on their luck,
Broken hearted,
On the edge –
People struggling
with earth’s gravity.

And I have,
Over time,
Grown very
Fond of them.
