walks when it could ride,
talks in circle criticism,
hugs in careless abandon,
scolds in lenient lessons,
devours and escapes small triumphs,
kisses cheeks with mistress sensitivity,
tolerates long absences,
cannot conceive grudge concepts,
saves the very last bite,
defends on blind faith,
ignores immediate blood ties,
senses before spoken words,
forgives without obvious tears,
asks for so very little
expects only the present,
and
in moments of great doubt
show up like Christmas Eve.
